A few months ago the cable news networks were all abuzz with the news that a former narcotics officer named Barry Cooper was on the verge of releasing a new DVD that would show people who smoke pot how to "Never Get Busted Again". Needless to say many of us in the drug policy reform community were thrilled at the prospect of such valuable information being made available to us. But then some alarming discrepencies began to surface.
------------------
I did not learn any way to keep a narcotics dog from detecting my bag nor to keep a cop from searching my car. The fact that this DVD has been packaged and marketed as a way to help people stay out of jail and sold for a massive profit does not lend any credibility to the notion put forth by Mr. Cooper that he wishes to atone for his sins as a narcotics officer. If that notion were true then this video would have contained information that is actually useful when trying to avoid narcotics dog and officer detection and it would have been disseminated for free. However, according to this video there isn't a damn thing I can do to ensure I will "Never Get Busted Again".
Interesting review of Barry Cooper's Never Get Busted DVD. For the most part it sounds like it's full of common sense information that any self respecting pot smoker would already know. I think I'll wait for the torrent or youtube video.
Loretta's review is full of bias and lies!!! I watched Barry's DVD and agree with thousands of others and this unbiased popular review. Mark Draughn, windypundit.com writes:
"Personally, I disagree with Loretta Nall's opinion of your video. That said, there's definitely some useful information in here, and I found it to be a fascinating insight into police thinking about drug interdiction tactics. Barry has knowledge that most lawyers do not. His knowledge is a valuable supplement to what's already available on the web. Your DVD is what you said it would be."
Another quote:
"Every pot smoker in America should own Barry Cooper?s DVD, Never Get Busted Again."--Pot Star, High Times Magazine
Another quote: "I was more than surprised at how well "Never Get Busted Again" was put together! Barry's DVD gets a huge thumbs up for content and entertainment. My wife and I never took our eyes off the screen!"--The Brain, Disk Jockey THE BLAZE
I even read somewhere Barry's DVD is going to be available in major record shops and book stores such as Hastings, Virgin Records and others.
I don't know what personal vendetta Loretta has against Barry but it is obvious her assessment of the video is a lie. I watched the film and it is most excellent!
And what is your level of experience in these matters? If you're some high school kid, you may be blown away by things that Loretta considers common knowledge.
High school kid, Pfft. I think this may really be Barry Cooper.
Did you seriously register here only to comment on this old forgotten seed? I guess shouldn't be surprised judging from your childish response to it.
Oops, got cut off.
Barry, why do you tell your viewers that they should consent to searches?
Barry! How nice of you to join us!
Since you're registered anyway, I'll point out that we have a Marijuana News Group here, you should join.
You might learn something.
Good call kwuark.
I'm not Barry and I'm not in highschool. As far as childish responses go, the only thing I've seen here is the same tired insults. I'm no authority and don't claim to be. I do know from personal experience that in Texas an officer can and will arrest you for the traffic violation, when that happens an inventory incident to arrest is done. There are other issues than the cop getting a dog or violating your rights. Maybe where you guys live you don't have such concerns, lucky you. Also, I suppose I am the only person on the planet who didn't know how drug dogs work or deception indicators that police are trained to look for.? If I want to know what to do in court I would seek the advice of a lawyer. If I want to know how not to raise an officer's suspicions it only seems logical to me that someone who has been trained and actually did the job for a number of years would be a more viable resource than someone who hasn't.
I gave Mr. Cooper the chance to address those discrepancies via a blog interview and he agreed to do the interview but never did it. He also threatened me at one point by stating that if I didn't stop spreading 'false information' about him he would ruin me by telling all of the people who listen to his advice (which he claimed were many) that I am not credible.
Whoa. That's a little defensive. Way to sell your movie.
Re police dogs, "Wolves urine" Works every time.
What does it do to the dogs exactly? Seems like anything that would get them excited at all would cause a probable cause search.
It's a territorial signifier, apparently it states to any dog, "abandon hope all who enter"
Dogs simply recognise they are outranked and will not contest ground marked.
Not really any use with vehicles as you pointed out. Quite hard to obtain.
Only useful as a disruptor of process in a housesearch.
Now this is amusing. Mr. Cooper is threatening to sue over this particular review.
Consider this letter my final attempt to make peace with you. If you
do not take down your review and insist to others who have posted your
review to do the same, I will file suit against you in my hometown
court. If you are willing, email your intentions and I will provide
the addresses your review is posted.I hope this can be solved without litigation but am comfortable to
solve this however you choose.Regards,
Barry N. Cooper
